Contract: One year fixed-term (initially)
St Matthew’s is a one-form entry primary school in Ponders End, serving a vibrant and diverse community, where families often face significant challenges. We are more than just a school – we are a supportive, caring family, driven by a shared sense of community and purpose, who believe in the power of education to transform lives. Our mission is to provide every child with strong foundations for a bright and fulfilling future.
We are committed to providing the best for our children; fostering a safe, happy, and nurturing learning environment where our children can flourish, not only academically but also socially, emotionally & spiritually. Our vision goes beyond teaching an engaging, rich curriculum – we aim to equip our pupils with essential life skills, resilience, and the confidence to achieve their dreams.
The Governors are seeking to appoint a dedicated, nurturing and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Support Assistant to join our Early Years team in our small and caring school. The role is flexible and may include a blend of responsibilities including supporting the class teacher with the general management of the classroom and day-to-day learning activities; assisting in the delivery of targeted interventions to help close learning gaps; providing individual and small group support, particularly for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and delivering high-quality care. The successful candidate will be committed to supporting our young learners at the very start of their school journey.
We are looking for someone who:
Is passionate about early childhood education;
Has a full and relevant Level 3 qualification for working in the Early Years (e.g. CACHE, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent);
Has experience working in an EYFS setting, ideally with Nursery and Reception children;
Has a strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum and child development;
Is warm and flexible, with a proactive approach to supporting young learners;
Is supportive of the Christian ethos of our school.
What we offer:
A welcoming, supportive and professional team;
A well-resourced and engaging mixed-age EYFS classroom;
Opportunities for ongoing training and professional development;
A school community committed to inclusion, creativity, the well-being and success of every child.
The Governors of St Matthew’s are equal opportunities employers, committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and encourage applications from staff from under-represented groups.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged. Please contact our Office Manager, Sue Michael, on office@st-matthews.enfield.sch.uk or 020 8804 1666 to arrange your visit.
